7 million tonnes of waste go to landfill in Australia every year. This Earth Week, we’re giving our clothes & items a second life. For the whole of this week, bring in your unwanted items into the office we're you'll be able to buy, swap or sell them! All proceeds will go to One Tree Planted 🌳

The Nature Conservancy has consistently worked to preserve the lands and waters on which all life depends since their founding in 1951! TNC's goals span CO2 reductions, social equality initiatives, oceans, rivers, & lands conservation, support of local stewards, and biodiversity protection. The support they receive helps them take on the dual threats of climate change and biodiversity loss across 70+ countries and territories. This year, we have a goal of raising $1,000 for this incredible organization!

But the threats of development, climate change, and insufficient funding are just a few of the perils facing the lands we hold dear. With strong citizen advocates, the future is still being determined for these unique places. The Global Fund for Humanity strongly supports the vital role that federal ownership and stewardship of federal lands play in advancing conservation. They are integral to many of our science-based solutions that benefit the communities and plants and animals that depend on them. The urgency behind many current environmental issues like climate change, deforestation and recent environmental crises around the world have stopped us all in our tracks; while there is a lot being done to provide immediate relief, we are asking ourselves what can we do at an individual, organizational and community level to make a difference. Beyond taking individual actions (like reducing your carbon footprint, for example),we have created this fund to work on addressing a variety of current environmental issues, and subsequently advocate for change through law and policy, research, and/or direct action. We also advocate for strong stewardship practices focus on environmental health disparities, toxins, and ensuring that all people have access to a healthy environment. Bristol Bay feeds the world, producing more wild salmon than anywhere else on Earth. Recognizing the public benefit of this fishery, in 2020, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers denied a federal permit to construct a large-scale open pit mine in Bristol Bay's pristine headwaters. After years of new analysis, this is the second consecutive administration to conclude that the destruction of Bristol Bay salmon habitat is contrary to the public interest. However, because the mineral deposit beneath its headwaters remains, Bristol Bay will continue to be vulnerable to further attempts of large-scale mining. We have created this fund to help prevent the destruction of a global natural treasure in Alaska by supporting temporary protection for Bristol Bay.Your contribution is tax-deductible. Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife & Tech Industry: Partnering for Impact Together, as tech industry, we can make a mark and extend Lamington National Park (LNP), part of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Gondwana Rainforests of Australia, one of the World’s biodiversity hotspots. The goals is to, collectively, raise $0.5M to expand the Lamington National Park by 186ha and protect that unique part of the world and countless species in an area of outstanding biodiversity, forever. Why Lamington National Park: - Part of the UNESCO World Heritage List, one of the World’s biodiversity hotspots. - The park extension will preserve the natural environment and threatened species in perpetuity. - Gondwana is the principal habitat for many threatened species of plants and animals found nowhere else in the world. - During the Black Summer Fires 54% of the Gondwana Rainforest was burnt, much of these areas experienced fire damage for the first time in thousands of years. - Culturally significant for First Nations Peoples who hold strong connections to the land. - LNP follows a management plan and community views by working in partnership with the Traditional Owners Together, we can make a difference and expand Lamington National Park for our employees, customers, partners and next generations to come to enjoy and experience, forever.

Torrential monsoon rains and floods have washed away villages and infrastructure across three of the four provinces of Pakistan (Sindh, Baluchistan, and Punjab). As a result, around 33 million people, including 16 million children, have been affected, with more than 1,100 people dead. Some 200,000 homes have been swept away and a further 450,000 damaged; nearly 18,000 schools have been damaged as well. Government officials are calling it a “climate catastrophe” and say the country is “ground zero” for extreme weather events. In the past year, Pakistan's also experienced heat waves, forest fires, and glacial lake outbursts. Pakistan produces less than 1% of global GHG emissions, yet it is listed as one of the most climate vulnerable places in the world. We've created the fund to support organizations and their emergency response efforts delivering life saving supplies, such as food, water, medicines and shelter.

Working together to clean up Silicon Valley

It seems every day we’re faced with more ramifications of climate change and environmental impacts. Wildfire season used to last only from October to April, but today we’re seeing larger disasters year-round. Flooding concerns are no longer constrained to predicted flood zones. Global temperature rise is causing loss of habitat for plants, animals, and human beings. Now more than ever our daily actions impact the environment, and it is imperative that we continue to educate ourselves and take action to reduce our environmental footprint. Forest fires continue to plague California, forever impacting many different communities and ecosystems. In 2021 alone, roughly 2.6 million acres of land was damaged by a fire in California. Given our high concentration of employees and properties within California, we selected two important organizations to help combat natural disasters in a state that has been disproportionately impacted by extreme weather. As a building owner with sustainability at the forefront of our Company's efforts, Emily Pierce, Director of Sustainability, recommended two charities whose efforts directly support the preservation and protection of the natural environment, with a specific focus on California. These two organizations, The National Park Conservation Association and the California Fire Safe Council, are both recognized and certified 501(c)3 organizations. This Campaign will be open from July 1 – September 30 with a stated goal of reaching $2,500 in employee giving. Further, if we reach 100% employee participation, long time California resident, Mike Ibe will match donations dollar for dollar up to $1,500.00!

Earth Day is celebrated each year on April 22nd, marking the anniversary of the modern environmental movement. Earth Day is marked by more than a billion people annually as a day of action toward a cleaner environment and the fight against climate change. Leveraging on our strong roots, CX SP EMEAR has set a Big Hairy Ambitious Goal: To plant not just 10, 20 or 100 trees, we want to create a forest! In partnership with One Tree Planted, we are targeting to create a forest in Kitui. For every $1 you donate 1 tree gets planted. This project in Kitui, Kenya, is more than a mission to off-set carbon emissions, it is about empowering a community. We deliberately chose this project due to the potential far-reaching impact it will have not just on the environment but more so on the community as well.
