Sankofa Healing Studio
We are passionate about tackling the stigma related to mental health within the black community. We remove barriers to receive culturally competent therapy that promotes healing to those who have experienced childhood, racial, systemic, and other trauma. We focus on the intersectionality of race, gender, and the criminal legal system. Our approach includes the use of artistic expression to address complex trauma. Many have had traumatic experiences either do not have the words to verbally express their emotions or simply aren’t ready to talk about their experiences. Using various modalities including art therapy, play therapy, hip hop therapy and other trauma specific supports, participants are able to begin their healing journey.
